My dear readers…here is something about our unique sunset.
Santorini has a very famous sunset millions of visitors watch it every summer.Look it up on Google images and you will see a lot pictures there.

At the edge of the castle ruins in Oia every day tourist gather and wait for the right moment to take their pictures of that beautiful sunset…There is a funny part in that whole procees….When the Sun finaly sets….the viewers applause the Sun lol
I find that very funny……………….Maybe the Sun will hear them

Tip:Buy a nice bottle of chilled wine and take some glasses from your hotel ,find a nice spot near the castle where you can be more comfortable and enjoy it there listening to the applause

John the Greek…

John is from Naoussa in North Greece.He owns the Taverna Anemelia in Baxedes in Oia.This guy is the original Greek , he offers great hospitality and very very good prices.I eat there almost every day so I thought to tell you about it.

Anemelia is located on the sea side road that leads to Oia next to En Plo hotel.

John and I met a few years ago when a friend of mine told me that she has a friend opening a tavern in Oia.The establishment has a large open area and serves greek traditional cuisine.Wines start from 18 euro to 25 euro.The food is just fine as well, Tito the chef makes amazing meatballs and Mousaka (Fresh fish is also available).

There is just one small problem with this tavern……..People don’t know it exists…That is why I am telling you about it.I think it is not right that people like John the Greek are not getting the attention they should.My thought is that many many tourists are looking for a nice Greek tavern to enjoy their food and not being afraid that they will have to take a loan to pay the bill.

In Santorini you will find something for all tastes.Gourmet restaurants are spread all over the island charging 100s of Euros for a normal dinner…Well OK, it is not the same as a tavern but still I think most restaurants are over rated and way to expensive.

A couple would need to pay in a gourmet restaurant in Oia or Fira about 120Euro or more depending on the wine.In a nice tavern like Johns a couple gets a nice Greek dinner for 40-50 euro max with a nice bottle of Santorini wine.

You have to check this out …take my word you will be pleased.

Notice:John will pick you up if you do not have a car and bring you back, with no charge (if you are located in Oia)…how does this sound?

Ohhhhhhhhh….btw since the Anemelia tavern has a great outdoors area it is great for weddings …If you plan to have one keep in mind that this will reduce your expenses quite a bit.

Oia or Ia is situated on the north of the island, 11 km away from Fira.
The most beautiful village of Santorini no matter what.Millions of visitors come every year just to watch the unique sunset(they even clap their hands when the sun is gone)…
The village before the big earthquake on 1956 had a few industrial facilities where the locals worked.The population was much higher all year long compared to nowadays.But the damages where too big and the owners did not repair the facilities and left the island.That was a time when Santorini was not discovered yet as a cosmopolitan island and a Must.
Today the top hotels are placed here and many celebrities and very wealthy people stay in Oia for their holidays.
